Funeral services for Mildred Martha Rood, 90, will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She died September 26, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born on September 29, 1920 in Berlin, OK the daughter of Roslin and Mattie Seetin Skinner.
She was a homemaker.
She married Ralph Bert Rood on May 8, 1937 in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death September 17, 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Palmquist, and husband, Douglas, Cassville, MO, Kathryn Pine, and husband, Marvin, Lawrence, KS; two sons, Jim Rood, and wife, Terry, Lawrence, KS, Stan Rood, and wife, Patti, Tonganoxie, KS; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Multiple Sclerosis Society – Eastern Kansas Chapter and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

I haven’t seen aunt Millie for at least 60 years.Wish it wasn’t so long ago.She was my favorite step-aunt.I am sorry hear to hear the news.God bless the family.
I recall Millie as being such a beautiful woman! We saw her on occasion when I was still living in Lawrence many years ago as my Aunt Flora Mae was married to her brother in law, Gene.

Richard and I are so sorry to hear about Aunt Mildred…we just got home from Colorado and the timing was not good for us..but this news is not good for anybody!!! Our prayers for peace and comfort are with you all at this time….May God bless you always.
