Graveside funeral services for Esther Nadine Pifer, 89, of Baldwin City, Kansas will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Kingman, Kansas. Mrs. Pifer died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Kingman, KS to Clarence Walton and Lilah Faye Shepherd on October 10, 1921.
She was a member of the Eastern Star Delta Chapter 172 and worked for Western Union Telegraph Co. for 26 years.
Esther was married to Charles (Ken) Pifer in 1940. They divorced in 1947. She was married to Ray Andrews from 1949 to 1954. They divorced. She remarried Charles Pifer in 1964. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kathie Garcia, her son, Michael Andrews, one brother Leo Shepherd and her sister, Lois Mouldenhower.
Survivors include grandsons, Chad (Linda) Andrews of Marana Az., Brad Andrews of Tucson, Az. and granddaughter Tricia McAtee (Jim) of Lacygne, Ks. Surviving great-grandchildren are Calyssa, Reagan, Dylan, Conner, Taylor and Kenzie.
Memorials to Hospice of Reno County in memory of her daughter, Kathie Garcia. Warren-McElwain Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Nadine will be missed by her great grandaughters Taylor and Kenzie. She was a special person to many.
