Funeral services for Catherine L. “Cathy” Mills, 88, Lawrence will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
She was born November 5, 1921 in Agenda, KS the daughter of John and Edna Cleveland McHugh.
She attended two years of college and began a teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Agenda, KS. She later taught in the Russell, KS school district. She then managed the insurance agency inside the Russell State Bank in Russell before moving to Lawrence, KS. In Lawrence, she managed the Gill Insurance Agency until her retirement in 1986.
Mrs. Mills was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence and was active in the United Methodist Women and their church circles. She also belonged to several bridge clubs in Lawrence.
She married Verl D. Anderson in June 1946, then they later divorced. She married Archie L. Mills (U.S. Navy LCDR Retired) in June 1976 in Russell, Kansas. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include; one daughter, Vicki Cathey and her husband, Steve, of Casper, WY, one son, Doug Anderson, and his wife Brenda, of Belton, MO, one step-daughter, Pamela Scott, Phoenix, AZ; two step-sons; Stuart Mills, Lawrence, Roger Mills, Lawrence; one sister-in- law, Rose Mary McHugh, of Wichita, KS, seven grandchildren: Brian, Justin, Carrie, Jeff, Mary, Heather, and David and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth McHugh and a step-son, Patrick Mills. .
The family will greet friends from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Warren McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Foundation and may be sent in care of the Mortuary.

Pam, Stuart,& Roger. I’m an old friend of the Mills family from the days at Point Mugu, now in Fontana, CA. The Mills family was a neat group, full of life and energy. So sorry for your loss.
