Richard Folks Jr.

A memorial service for Richard E. Folks, Jr, 65, will be Monday, January 25, 2010
at 11 a.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.  He died Friday, January 15, 2010 at his home in Wright City, MO.

Richard was born December 10, 1944 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Richard Folks, Sr
and  Elsie Moore.  He was a 1962 graduate of Eudora High School.

He was the owner of Richard Folks Excavating from 1975 to 1987 and worked at R & F
Enterprises from 1987 to 2004.  In 2004, he became owner of the company and operated it  until his death. He was a member of the American Pool Association and the Motorcycle Riders Club of America.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and KU fan.

He married Virginia Moorhead on June 21, 1986 in Lawrence. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include his parents; five sons, Bill, Eudora; Chuck and his wife Diane, Lawrence;
Bob and his wife Jen, Lecompton; Adam and his wife Stacy, St. Peters, MO; Mike and his wife Cinde, St. Peters, MO; two sisters, Mary Jane Church, Lawrence and Janet Gabriel, Eudora; one brother, Larry, Mesquite, NV. and ten grandchildren, Elizabeth, EvanLee, Abbigayle, Graci, Jaxson , Ashleigh, Maelee, Nolan, Lydia, Madison.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.

A celebration of life in Wright City, MO will be Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 7 pm at
DanO’s (the place where Rich played pool).

The family will greet friends on Sunday, January 24, 2010, from 4 to 6 pm at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel.  Memorials in his name may be made to: the
American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the mortuary.
