To the family of Joe, I am saddened to hear of your loss, Joe was a good friend, from high school to everyday life in Lawrence. He always had a smile, and was always a friend. May you find the Peace that Passes all understanding, through our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. To the family I remember Joe from Kanwaka 4-H and the many kids he helped and the fun times we all had at the fair. I also remember visiting with him when I took my shoes in to get re-heeled. He was such a delight to talk to and never knew a stranger. He will be sadly missed.

Our sincere condolences to the Shultz family.
We knew Joe as possessing a wonderful spirit. He was a very talented and exciting person enrolled in my Art class at KU a number of years ago. We subsequently stayed in contact through the “Cobbler’s Bench”.
We are saddened by Joe’s death.

I was sadden with this news. Joe was truly liked by all his classmates. I firmly believe Joe is next to Jesus now. We have lost two wonderful classmates in just a short time. May God bless his family in their time of sorry.
Dear Schultz Family:

The Shultz family was our neighbor when I was young, and I’ll always remember how much fun Joe was and how he enjoyed playing with all the neighborhood kids. He was one of the “cool” dads back then that all the kids enjoyed being around. I babysat for Kimmie Sue and Craig when they were little and truly enjoyed the friendship our families had back then. Joe was one of those kind-hearted guys who would drop everything to help out in any way, and could light up a room with his smile and laugh. My prayers are with Pat, Kimmie Sue, and Craig, and I hope they will take comfort in knowing that Joe will make Heaven a bit brighter.
I was so sorry to hear about Joe’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time. Patty and Jimmy, I’ll always remember what fun we had together, especially those county fairs. Take care and God Bless. Julie
Craig & Kim, I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
So sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. Not a memory of Lawrence without one of the Shultz family. Joe always welcomed me in no matter how long my absence. Think of you all often. Matt
The one thing that will always stand out in my mind about Joe was when my Mom was in the hospital dying. He came up to see us and gave us a roll of quarters – so we could make phone calls at the pay phone if we neede to. What a simple and thoughtful thing to do. That was Joe. And now how strange to think about just saying Jeff and Jim, instead of Jeff, Joe and Jim. Our love and thoughts are with all of you.
I loved Joe very much he let me live with him when I had no where to go. I met Joe in 2002 and he always was there for me when I needed him. I regret not being there for him in the end. I am sorry for the family’s loss. I am also saddened for his friends who he considered family.
The thing that sticks out in my mind the most is Joe’s smile and his hugs. I noticed Jennie said Jeff,Joe,Jim – I always say Jimmy Joe Jeff! And for a long time when Aimee was younger she thought that was one person! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Our love to each of you. Mike

To all the Shultz family: So sorry to hear of your loss. May all the good memories of your lives together sustain you at this time of grief. We will be thinking of you.
Craig-
So sorry to hear about your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I want to thank the hundreds of you that we have seen and heard from the past few days. For those of who did not know what happened, Dad was on his way to a morning doctors appointment. He bumped the steering wheel while taking off his coat and lost control of his van. The doctors worked night and day and simply could not save him. The kind words that have been written and spoken will stick with our family forever. My dad never met a stranger and I have been told that I was given the same gift. I am sad that he is not with us, but I am happy that his pain and worry are gone. Thank you again for sharing with our family.
