Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia L. Grob, 77, Lawrence, will be held 10 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. She died December 31, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 5, 1932, in Eudora, KS, the daughter of Clement and Edna Sommer Zillner.
Mrs. Grob was a homemaker. She was employed by USD 497 for 26 years in food service.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Forty-Niner Club of Lawrence High School.
She married Donald A. Grob on July 28, 1952, in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2004.
Survivors include her mother, Edna, Lawrence; three daughters, Sue Elder, Newton, KS, Elaine Creasey, Lawrence, and Janice Grob-French, DeSoto, KS; four sons, Allen, Gary and Dean, of Lawrence, and Brad, of Lenexa, KS, one sister, Joyce Halderman, Lawrence; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her father and a brother, Paul Zillner.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. A Parish Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or the St. John’s Altar Society and sent in care of the mortuary.
