Marjorie Tate

Funeral services for Marjorie Jean Tate, 85, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.  Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.  She died December 26, 2009 at Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Kansas.

She was born May 22, 1924 in Perry, Kansas the daughter of Neal and Nellie Pearl (Smith) Goepfert. 

She retired from Lawrence Senior Center, where she worked as the manager of the Craft Store.  She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Lawrence.

She married Raymond Edward on June 6, 1942 in Lawrence, Kansas.  He preceded her in death in 2007.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean Tate.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Tate, Rio Rancho, New Mexico and a brother, Claude Goepfert of Missouri.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and sent in care of the mortuary.

The family will greet friends an hour before the service.
