Phyllis Hines

A Celebration of Life for Phyllis Jane Hines, 84, Lawrence, will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Lawrence.  Mrs. Hines died April 9, 2009, at her home.  She had lived in Lawrence for over twenty years.

She was born on December 4, 1924, in Salina, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel (Robinson) Cooper.

Mrs. Hines received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from MacMurray College, Jacksonville, IL.  She was an elementary school teacher in Salina for many years.  She worked at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center day care center for over ten years.

She married Jay Hines on August 8, 1946, in Salina, Kansas.  He survives of the home.

Other survivors include, a daughter, Jefri Franks, Parkville, MO; two sons, Michael Bryan, Prairie Village, KS, Andrew Cooper, Topeka, KS; and six grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a sister, a brother, and a granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
