Funeral services for Naomi "Toni" Lee Adams, 75, of Lawrence, Kansas will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Adams died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at her home in Lawrence.
She was born April 19, 1933 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Charley Allen and Irene A. (Hestand) Faulk.
She was a graduate of Auburn High School and Clarks Business College in Topeka. She worked as a secretary for the Special Education Department at the University of Kansas for many years and retired in 1991. She had formerly worked for Calvin-Eddy-Kappelman and was a legal secretary for Robert Oyler, Attorney at Law.
She was a member of the DeSoto Baptist Church and a charter member of Lawrence Heights Christian Church in Lawrence. She was a member of the 33 Club, TOPS, was a long time volunteer for Lawrence Memorial Hospital and was Mrs. Jayhawk at Sunset Hill Elementary School.
She was married to John S. Adams on November 13, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas. He survives of Lawrence.
Other survivors include one son, John Adams Jr. and his wife, Susie, Virginia Beach, Virginia; one daughter, Gwendy and husband, Robert Olivarez of DeSoto, Ks.; three brothers, Charley A. "Bud" Faulk and William D. "Bill" Faulk , both of Topeka, Kansas; Carl K. Faulk of Rock Port, Texas; two sisters, Norma Lou Henderson of Wabaunsee County, Kansas and Ruth Ann Zimmerman of Topeka, Kansas; ten grandchildren, John S. Adams III, Jessica Adams, Rebecca Adams, Courtney Otter, Casey Fitzgerald, Carey Hass, Emilia Parrilla, Alicia Smith, Peter Olivarez and Nicholas Olivarez; 18 great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the mortuary. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Special Education Department at the University of Kansas and may be sent in care of the KU Endowment Association or to the mortuary.
