R. Dale Bellinger

Memorial service for R. Dale Bellinger, 91, Lawrence, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, prior to the memorial service on Tuesday. Dale passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Star Living in Lawrence.

Dale was born March 30, 1927 in Aberdeen, S.D. the son of Earl Abyn and Mildred Clare (McMichael) Bellinger.

He graduated from Lawrence High School and then joined the Army in 1945 during WWII and serviced until 1946 and at that time was honorably discharged.

Dale loved his grandchildren and enjoyed traveling.

He worked for Morgan-Mack Ford Motor Company for 22 years and then Haddock Ford. He then opened Dale & Ron’s Auto Service with his partner, Ron Coffman and worked for 30 years there before retiring in 1996.

He married Thelma Kibbee May 5, 1950. They would have been married 68 years tomorrow, Saturday, May 5th. Survivors include his wife, Thelma; three children, Peggy Christian, Grand Island, NE, Debbie Bellinger, Topeka and Rick Bellinger and wife, Laura, Lawrence; three grandchildren, Eric Christian, Ricky Bellinger and fiancé, Maddie Brown, and Ryan Bellinger; and two great grandchildren, Austin and Natalee Christian. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Beryl; and brother, Jack.

The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, May 7th at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Visiting Nurses Hospice or First Presbyterian Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
