I worked for mike in the 90s driving a taxi & he was the nicest easiest going guy in the world & always had a smile on his face. Mike had a no tolerance policy in the taxi company! If you got fired you didn’t get rehired! Well mike rehired me two days after he fired me! I was young & just wasn’t quite ready to settle down. I asked mike why he made the exception to give me another shot? He smiled & said because my wife said you make a good pot of coffee & others that worked for him thought I would straighten up & do better & he wanted to prove them wrong! I laughed & told him I was going to prove Him wrong! 3 days later mike canned me again. Mike didn’t hold grudges & treated everyone with kindness & respect even after canning you he would sit down with you over a cup of coffee & shoot the breeze. I never will forget it when I asked him if he really believed that I would fail again just before he rehired me? Without missing a beat & that big nine mile smile he looked at me & said no doubt! He didn’t stop there though because again without missing a beat he smiled again & said that he did believe I would wake up one day & turn things around for myself & do good things! I never forgot that & never will! It was a good feeling to hear those words coming from a man that is & was & always will be an admired business man! I hung on to those words as if it was my own dad speaking to me because my dad always said the same things to me. I am a small business owner now & have been for the past nine years & I attribute that to my dad & mikes words of encouragement! Rest in peace my friend!
