I am sorry to hear of Mrs. Goff’s passing. Mrs. Goff attended numerous annual Senior awards assemblies at Council Grove High School to assist with the awarding of the John Goff Most Inspirational Athlete Award. This award is in honor of Mrs. Goff’s husband who passed away in 1971 while serving as a teacher and coach. The first such award in Coach Goff’s honor was presented in May, 1971, and it continues to be awarded today. She was very proud of this award, and she took pride in helping us honor the Senior recipient of this award at CGHS for many years. On behalf of Council Grove High School, we extend our deepest sympathy to the Goff family and our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

What a wonderful Lady. I worked with her at the Lawrence, KS Post Office. When ever I had a bad day or was down Marjean would always make me laugh, get my spirits up, just make all the bad things go away. She was such a good friend. It was an honor and a pleasure for me to be her friend. I will miss her Dearly, with All my Heart! We have lost another Angel on Earth!

I am very saddened to hear of Marjean’s death. Marjean and I were life-long friends–both growing up in Clinton. I have a remembrance of when we went to the “Richland Fair” (west of Clinton) and rode on the Ferris wheel. The guy operating the Ferris wheel would not stop it and let us off. We were both screaming at him by the fourth or fifth “extra” rides that we were receiving. Memorable and scary experience for two young “farm girls”. I still have a Christmas photo card of Marjean and John’s two “little” boys. Love, Mary Demeritt Gordon

Aunt Marjean, a wonderful lady. A wonderful Aunt. I have fond memories of years gone by. Cooking breakfast for a bunch of hunters , stacking toast12in high. Taking care of a family and keeping strong during a loss of a husbands premature death. I feel a sadness that we live in such a fast pace world it becomes tough to keep up with those we love. John and Gene I have so many memories now it’s hard for me to even get through this without stopping with every word. My thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. God bless, the Goff and Miller families.

I want Eugene and John to know the high esteem I had for their mother. She was a wonderful person and a good friend to my mother. She will be missed by many.

Marjean was a great supporter of the Wilsey community from the first time I meet her. She always had a great smile and it was always good to see her on various occassions after I left Wilsey. Both her and Coach Goff had a good influence on the many kids that they came in contact with.

John and Eugene are in my prayers. Hope to see you at your mother’s services.

I am sorry to hear of Mrs. Goff’s passing. I did not know her well, but I remember Mr. Goff from his biology classes at CGHS. He was one of my favorite teachers, and taken from his family too soon. John and Eugene–my thoughts are with you at the loss of your mother.

I’m sorry to hear Aunt Marjean passed away. I don’t live in Lawrence any more, so the family does not inform me of news about the family. I always thought of her as a kind and wonderful person. Lots of Love.
