Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Everest, KS at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2nd. She died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Midland Hospice in Topeka.

Irene was born on April 8, 1922, in Everest, KS, the daughter of Sigwald and Marie Jacobson. She graduated from Willis High School and attended college in Fullerton, CA. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Union State Bank in Everest and Commerce Bank and Trust in Kansas City. She married William Ross Wilson, a U.S. Navy pilot, in 1944. She was a wife and mother and homemaker as they moved from one U.S. Naval Air Station to another. They moved to Lawrence, KS, in 1960 and joined First Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in many capacities. She also worked at Capitol Federal Savings. She impacted the lives of all who knew her through her servant’s heart and deep capacity to love and nurture. And while we grieve our loss, we know that because of her personal relationship with Jesus Christ, today is her best day ever.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Selmer Jacobson, in 1944, and her husband in 2003. She is survived by her son, William Ross Wilson, II of Lawrence, her daughter, Jane Wilson Robinson (David) of Schaumburg, IL, four grandchildren: Heather Wilson Allen (Lorn) of Blue Springs, MO, Christopher Wilson of Lawrence, Amy Robinson Tatum (Trei) of Hoffman Estates, IL, Mindy Robinson (Kim Clark) of Denver, CO, and three great-grandchildren: John and Madison Tatum and Aubrey Allen.

    Dear family,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I know she was ready to be with her maker because she recently told my wife and I that she only wanted to make one more move and that was to Everest where she can be laid to rest. She was a very special lady and I always enjoyed time with her. We shared many Jacobson family reunions together and a few phone calls in recent years. I truly enjoyed my most recent visit with her in Lawrence this past June.

Jane and Bill, you have our deepest condolences. She will be missed by all who knew her!
