Henry Francis Lickteig

Funeral services for Henry Francis Lickteig, 98, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial with full military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. He passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home.

Henry was born April 13, 1919 in Richmond, Kansas, the son of Aloysius Peter and Clara (Rossman) Lickteig.

Henry served his country in the United States Army during WWII.

He married Ruby Smith on December 11, 1948 in Ottawa, KS. She survives of the home.

He enjoyed bowling for the All Stars bowling team, and Allied Van Lines bowling team. He was a member of the VFW and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

He owned and operated Hank’s Delivery Service and was an Agent for Allied Van Lines for over 20 years, he was then a salesman for various businesses in Lawrence until he retired in 1987.

Other survivors include his daughter, Linda Lickteig and husband, Wayne Trowbridge; son, Michael Lickteig; six grandchildren, Bradley, Melissa, Warren, Tarina, Monette, Patrick; and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laynetta Kay Rose; son, Allen Francis Lickteig; and four sisters, Elizabeth “Lizzie”, Marjorie “Margie”, Evangeline “Van”, and Louise.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28th at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to World War II Museum and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Sending sincere sympathy after hearing Hank entered Heaven on March 25th. I know how much you loved one other and I pray God will be with you during this most difficult time in your life. Hank was a wonderful man, he loved you and his children with all of his heart, he was a good friend, and always had a kind word and gentle smile.
