Beatrice “Bea” Marlene Nelson

Bea Nelson died January 4, 2018 after a long life of faith and service. She was born May 5, 1926 in LaCygne, Kansas to Lottie and Harry Terrell.

She spent most of her adult life in Lawrence caring for and serving families who all consider her a beloved member of their own families.

She married Earl Nelson in 1954. He preceded her in death. She was blessed with one daughter, Beverly Helms Henderson. Bea was an active member of First Regular Missionary Baptist Church where she was the oldest living member of the church.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly; two grandchildren, Ginger Miller and Rodney Helms; great grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; and the Williams, Casad, and Tacha families who she lovingly cared for. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Vann and June Johnson.

The service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the First Regular Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to the First Regular Missionary Baptist Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Enjoyed Bea’s company at many family dinners at Aunt Lucille’s home. Bea was always busy making sure no one went hungry! She will be missed by many and I know that many greeted her at Heaven’s gates with hugs. Prayers for your family.
