Raymond Parsons

Memorial visitation for Raymond Lee Parsons, 63, Lawrence, will be from 6 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Parsons died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 19, 1946, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the son of Lee and Helen (Schwartz) Parsons.

Mr. Parsons graduated from Lawrence High School in 1965. He was employed at Kansas Color Press for 17 years and Sunflower Ammunition Plant until it closed. He was currently working at the Lawrence Journal World, where he most recently received his fifteen year pin. He was a member of the Good Sam’s Camper Club.

He married Delores Mitchell Statler on December 20, 2008, in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two step-daughters, Sharon Stine, Raytown, MO, Yvoune Koleber, McLouth, KS; a step-son, Ervin Statler, Lawrence; his step-parents, Kenneth and Berta Harmon, Lawrence; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Harmon.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Cancer Research at Lawrence Memorial Hospital-Oncology Dept. and sent in care of the mortuary.
