Leander “Lee” Edwards

Funeral service for Leander Edwards, 53, Lawrence, will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m. with Military Honors.  Mr. Edwards died April 20, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born on August 25, 1955, in Glen Allen, Mississippi the son of Coney Edwards and Nancy Beatrice Galloway.

Mr. Edwards served as a Marine.  He attended Kansas City, Kansas Community College where he received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration.  He was a Child Care Provider.

Survivors include five brothers, James and wife, Vicki, Omaha, NE, Major and wife, Mary, Lawrence, Decatro and wife, Leonora, Topeka, Coney, Jr., Lawrence, Cardell and wife, Kathy, Kansas City, KS; five sisters, Katherine Bratton, Flora Taylor, Lawrence, Wynetta Oyeleye and husband, Felix, Memphis, TN, Lunda Edwards, Lawrence and Brenda Rose Edwards, Lawrence; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Faye Aldean Bell-Carter.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Edwards Family Memorial Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.
