Harold Miller

Memorial service for Harold Leroy Miller, 79, Lawrence will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Dorsey-Liberty Post #14—American Legion and will follow the service. 

He died June 8, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

 

Mr. Miller was born June 11, 1929, in Horton, Kansas the son of Joseph and Goldie Weeks Miller.

 

Mr. Miller served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.  He worked at Whiting Cheese Factory in Horton, KS.  He worked at Stokley Van Kamp, Lawrence, KS.  He also had worked at the Jayhawk Box Factory in Lawrence. He worked as a bailer operator at the Lawrence Paper for 35 years.  He retired in 1998. 

 

He is survived by a son, Ricky, Lawrence; two daughters, Penny Miller and Wendy Lindberg, both of Lawrence; a step-daughter, Theresa Peter, Topeka, KS; a step-son, Marvin Gibbs, Lawrence; KS; one granddaughter, Tracey Cook, Lawrence, and 12 other grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Memorial contributions may be sent in his name to Dorsey-Liberty Post #14, American Legion and sent in care of the mortuary.
