Beverly Byron Delaney

Beverly Byron Delaney was born in Ohio County, Kentucky, on September 10, 1921, to Clyde and Amy Davis Stewart Delaney. He passed on to his eternal life on Thursday, September 28, 2017.

Byron graduated from Hartford High School in Hartford, KY. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Kentucky from 1940 – 1941, and from 1942 – 1943, he served in the U.S. Army. Byron moved to Kansas City, MO in the late 1940’s, and married Delores Tillie Soendker in 1963.

Byron worked in accounting positions for several companies, and retired from the City of Kansas City, MO, as an accountant in 1977 after 23 years of service. He was a member of Linwood United Church in Kansas City. His favorite leisure activities included playing piano, listening to piano and church organ music, and visiting the Nelson Atkins Art Museum. Even post-retirement, Byron enjoyed and took pride in keeping accurate financial records and organizing business documents. Since 2012, Byron and Delores have been residents of the Windsor of Lawrence in Lawrence, KS.

In addition to his parents, proceeding Byron in death were his siblings: Addie Wilson, Juanita Hopper, Lawrence Stewart, Doyne Stewart, and Royce Delaney. Survivors include his wife, Delores; sisters-in-law, Carol Carr, Fern Thomann; brother-in-law, Arlen (Jane) Soendker and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be held in the St. Luke’s Evangelical Free Church Cemetery, Wellington, MO at a later date.

The family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service on Friday, October 6th at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Linwood United Church in Kansas City and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
